Employers

Employees who smoke take more sick leave each year than those who don’t. So helping your employees to quit smoking will reduce your costs and improve productivity. It’s a great way to show staff they’re valued too – which can boost morale and motivation.

The NHS provides a range of free expert advice and support to help you help your staff quit smoking. Whether you’re a small company or large organisation there’s support available. You could host a stop smoking session on-site; encourage staff to visit one in the community; or we could train your HR or occupational health team to give stop smoking advice as part of a wider company health initiative. In this section, you’ll find links to a range of Smokefree support guides and tools for staff, as well as case studies showing how other businesses have benefitted from NHS support.

Use the search facility to find contact details for your local service or call the NHS Smoking Helpline on 0800 169 0 169.

Resources and tools to help you provide support are available free of charge from resources.
