Plan the delivery of services
The Department of Health has set up a comprehensive NHS Stop Smoking Service in England. Intensive face to face support is provided in group sessions or one to one by a trained stop smoking adviser. The prescription of appropriate stop smoking medicines is also a vital part of the support we offer.
If you are commissioning or delivering stop smoking services within your area the DH guidance: NHS Stop Smoking Services: Service & Monitoring Guidance will help you. It gives you information on how to plan the delivery of an NHS Stop Smoking Service, as well as detailed operational guidance for service staff.
Your local Regional Tobacco Policy Manager and Regional Performance Delivery representative will also be important contacts.
Please also check our 'Policy guidance' section for all other relevant guidance, including the NICE Public Health Programme Guidance: Smoking Cessation Services.
