Tomorrow is day 70 smoke free, never got this far before, my tip for keeping going is totalling how many cigarettes I have not smoked and how much not spent on this filthy habit. 1400 cigarettes not smoked and £350 not spent. Good luck to everyone else giving up, I have only used 2mg gum and am now down to 3-5 pieces per day, hope to give up gum completely in New year. Can safely say I have only had about 2 really bad days out of the seventy, I'm so relieved I didn,t give in. Have two good friends who have given up for 5 years, they say it was the best thing they ever done. stephen 22 November 2009
Is very proud of Pamela for giving up all on her very own.... she is so very very clever x x Lilly 21 November 2009
Really liked the tip for counting hours instead of days...91 hours without ciggies. Going cold turkey and yesterday at the supermarket with a five year old was a little stressy..but today just chilled and really pleased with myself. Its so nice not to keep going outside to smoke as its such a cold day, no more huddled in my coat outside in the rain...yay... Rachel 21 November 2009
Hi all. I was 15 when I srarted smoking. Thats 29 yrs of sucking toxins into myself! For a while I had been thinking of quitting but after a couple of half hearted attempts going cold turkey thought maybe I just couldn't do it anyway. Then my nephew stayed with me for a while and he went on the nicorette inhalator, patches and managed to quit. I ran out of ciggies one morning and asked him if I could borrow his inhalator as he did't use it anymore, until I could get to the shop. After a couple of hours I thought hey im not doing too bad here...a couple of hrs without a ciggie..I will try for a little longer. After 3 hrs im starting to think why dont you stop..use the rest of his capsules (about 5 strips). Toyed later with the idea of getting some ciggies and cutting down but I knew in my heart that if I bought some I would just carry on my habbit as usual....so I bit the bullet ...ceased the challenge and been SMOKE FREE FOR 16 DAYS !! Nobody is more suprised than myself. I am so proud. IF I CAN DO IT ANYONE CAN. Be strong and focused. Still early days for me but I'm determined not to fail. Good luck to all x jane 20 November 2009
3 Days since i became a non smoker - Using a combination of Patches and Inhalator seems to really take the edge off. Already noticed breathing is easier. Remember when you get those cravings that the benefits of being a non smoker FAR out weigh those of smoking. Happy days!! Good luck and we're all going through this together!! James 20 November 2009

Some tips for those brave people just starting on giving up the dreaded ciggy. Drink at least 2 litres of water a day. When you have a bad urge to smoke drink a glass of really cold water. For the nausea caused by the tablets I used bannana for breakfast or yogurt , both seemed to help. Keep busy, I am disabled but made myself do things good luck to you all I have been off them for over 3 months now and I used to smoke 30-40 a day for 45 years. My medics are singing my praises but if I had never smoked I would not be disabled now GOOD LUCK Linda 20 November 2009
